Luftpost [Jun. 3rd, 2007|10:52 pm]
It's been a while. A long while. I had moved eoinisawesome.com over to new hosting and was rebuilding the site with Django, but I've gotten bogged down lately and have been feeling the need to make a meaningful post.

Tomorrow will make two weeks of Nicole being gone. Missing her is (still) hitting me in waves, but ultimately I think we did the Right Thing (TM), and that this is going to be good for the long run.

I'm typing this from my brand spanking new apartment in Fort Collins. I'm living with Ian and Andy, two of my really good CS pals; It's going to be sweet.

Tomorrow I start an internship at Wall Street On Demand in Boulder which should be pretty fun. The people I've met so far are really awesome, and Big Brett is going to be my boss (once again). Ian got an internship there too so we get to be work buddies AND roommates!

This evening my mom came up to equip me with a few odds and ends that I had left at home. I also had her bring up this tiny rubbermaid drawer thing from high school since this apartment has no storage space.

This is what I found inside: Birthday cards, a receipt for insurance on the sentra, a letter from Rachel Hastings, a chain for a wallet, information about my "new" bank account, letters from my German pen pal Maja, and those stupid gundams that Ashley and I bought to entertain ourselves with in high school.

I had completely forgotten about Maja. I think I'm going to write a letter to that address and see what happens. I have no idea why I let that friendship die, because damn who doesn't want a german pen pal?

Well it's time for sleep, so I bid you adieu.

I feel like I\'m awash in this sea of ever expanding delicious music. It can be hard to keep your head above the water. So many different things pull you this way and that.

Scissorkick posted this pretty amazing podcast about a month ago that I only now noticed. It twas badass.

And then Rob sent me a myspace (gah!) message about how Rob Crow is reforming Heavy Vegetable under the name of Other Men. Now Heavy Vegetable was never my thing, but damn if these new songs don\'t sound amazing.

This past weekend was also good for musics. Friday night we went to this Noise show at the local Bike Co-op. It was pretty good. This girl who has won the poetry slam was there. Her and her other high school mate played three amazing songs utilizing the saw and guitar respectively. It was pretty damn cool.

Saturday night we (Nicole and I) went with Emily to see So Many Dynamos at Club 156 down in Boulder. The last time I was at that place was to see Milemarker senior year, so it was a bit of a trip. We were only in the club for a grand total of 40 minutes. We spent the rest of the time hanging out with Norm, the drummer from Dynamos who gives amazing hugs, drinking some beers, and then power walking to Starbucks to keep Nicole awake.

So the lesson for the day is to buy me music so I don\'t go dead broke.

I haven\'t posted in a while, so I figure I should actually use this friggin\' thing I built.

Life is pretty good. This semester is going to be easy. Really the hardest part is just focusing on Wing, but I\'ve started churning out stuff for them again (the only reason I\'m writing this is because our dev server mysteriously went down). The framework I\'ve made for them has really come along and I\'m happy with it, although I need to polish off a few more things and maybe tweak some core stuff. Good stuff all around.

Last week I got to see The Album Leaf perform at the Larimer Lounge. It was pretty amazing and I was in love even though Nicole was falling asleep ;-)

I saw Childern of Men and Pan\'s Labyrinth recently; two very good but very sad movies. You should really go see them.

WoW: Burning Crusade came out a while ago, so I\'ve been playing that and switched guilds to raid with Neil (and Tim and Chris followed) so that\'s been badass. That the Python Challenge, and Scrubs has kept me pretty well entertained.

I\'ve also landed an internship at Wall Street On Demand this summer working with Big Brett and his Engineering team. Pretty excited about that, even though it means a commute to Boulder and leaving Wing who really have been pretty damn good to me.

Well that is about the long and the short of it for now. Time for me to go eat at Rasta Pasta with Nicole! Huzzah!

So break has been pretty good thus far. Nicole and I spent the first week up at her place in Fort Collins. It was a nice relaxing time. Except on Thursday when we had to dig out my car and the driveway. That was teh sucks.

I am happily running Linux again after Windows decided to eat poo during finals week. It feels good. I can not believe I went so long with out it.

I just finished this fantastic novel called The Handmaids Tale by Margret Atwood that Nicole lent me. It is one of those books that I can not believe I was never forced to read in some form of school setting. It was so good in fact that last night I went to Border with the express purpose of buying another book by her and got Oryx and Crake, which follows similar dystopian themes. So far so good. Go read it now.

I have also worked on this site (and fixed a bug that Nicole and Co. discovered).

Last night at Borders I bought a copy of Linux Journal since it had been a while. And gracing the cover was a laptop with a related article reviewing this highly portable little beauty. I want it, and it is actually pretty decently priced considering R Cubed is the middle man. Maybe if I ask my dad nice....or rob a bank :-P

Anyways that is all I got for now. Have a good one all.

Well well well.

I haven\'t posted in a while, but something awesome has happened. If you\'re reading this on LJ it was automagically cross-posted there by the powers of the Interwebs.

Thats pretty much the big news. Yeah.

Found some cool music from a band named Cougar here.

Enjoy kiddos.

Oh man. I want this so new album so bad. Stupid Amp Camp!!

Enjoy. No really. Fucking watch it.

Although I will say as much as I love The Album Leaf I really like it better when they do just straight instrumental, so hopefully they did some of that on Into The Blue Again.

Nicole and I are officially together again. Craziness. I only had to beat her for an hour or two before she finally gave in. Yeah, it's going to be good this time. :-)

Uh Oh [Sep. 28th, 2006|03:59 pm]
This (comments) scared the poop out of me.

In response I called my senator (Mr. Allard) and told him to vote no; well really I told some girl named Katey to tell him to vote no.

I also went here and found the phone number for the appropriate office and now they're sending me the paperwork for my passport. Dual citizenship FTW. If Ireland ever allows bi-sexual, polygamous marriages any and all are welcome to hump on me for a bit until they can move out of the country.

For reals. Fuck.

Variable Variables [Sep. 21st, 2006|06:36 pm]
I _finally_ got the new Pinback CD today, along with a neato limited printing silk screen poster. I'm an asshole. It took forever to get though and I'm sure a majority of you heard my incessant whining about that fact. I ordered it through Amp Camp and they got slammed with orders and then their distributor fell through. It's a cute site. Free un-molested mp3 downloads, funny reviews, and a friendly staff (I harassed them enough to know that they are indeed friendly). If you buy something from them they also include a cute personalized note.

Other things go well. Got to see (and meet!) The Billy Nayer Show. Jesh spotted me money for a shirt. It was pretty rad; he played a autoharp, and the guitarist guy rocked out crazy style. Very enjoyable show.

That's about it folks. Wish me luck getting my Lawbringer pants in MC tomorrow.
